Bitumen shingles fish scale 1000 mm

NEXLER Bitumen Shingles 1000 are used on roofs with slope angles from 14° to 80°. The minimum permissible roof slope is 12.5°. The roof sheathing must be firm, level, clean, and of the appropriate moisture content, and carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations and recognised roofing practices. Sheathing should best be made from boards 12 cm wide as a maximum, including OSB boards, or other roofing materials suitable for nailing. The moisture content of the board substrate should not exceed 21%. Accurate and careful installation of the roof sheathing will help prevent damage to the roof shingles. Before laying the shingles, plan all flashings and cover the roof with 1 layer of NEXLER Optimax PV bituminous membrane or NEXLER P64/1200 bituminous felt. You can extend the service life of your roofing with NEXLER Optimax PV modified membrane. Depending on the roof slope, the bituminous felt/membrane should be laid under the shingles, either perpendicular to the ridge beam (for slopes greater than 50%) or parallel to the ridge beam (for slopes less than 50%), with longitudinal and transverse overlaps maintained according to the manufacturer’s specification, i.e. 8 cm and 12 cm, respectively. It is recommended to install additional strips of bituminous felt in areas particularly vulnerable to water penetration (eaves strip, valley, roof edges).

The product should not raise any objections. Shingle packs should be laid flat, without kinks.

If it is necessary to make the covering at low ambient temperatures, it is recommended to store the bitumen shingles in heated rooms at a temperature of not less than +18°C for 24 hours before installation.

During acceptance, the following should be checked:
- whether the release film on the underside of the bitumen shingles has been removed,
- the shingles have been correctly installed with nails above each notch between the modules,
- the method and effectiveness of bonding in critical areas of the roof,
- the correctness of detail work.

Before installing NEXLER Bitumen Shingles 1000 on the roof, remove the film from the underside. Shingles should be laid starting from the eaves, on the eave strip. A starter strip should be used to make sure that the notches on the modules face upwards. Where shingles are to be laid in an inverted pattern, it is recommended to remove the additional narrow strip of foil when fitting the first starter strip. Use adhesive and nails for a secure attachment to the substrate. The next layer of shingles should belaid on the starter strip shingles, rotated 180° (with the notches facing down). The first row should be offset by half the module width relative to the starter strip, with the second row laid in the same way, maintaining a half-module offset. For roofs with a slope angle between 25° and 80°, shingle tabs in a higher row should touch the highest point of the shingle notches in a lower row. For roofs with a more gentle slope angle, below 25°, the shingle tabs should overlap the highest point of the lower shingle tabs by approx. 4 cm. The shingles should be laid edge to edge, without leaving any gaps. For a secure attachment, use galvanised roofing nails spaced 1 to 2 cm apart above the shingle notches. Choose nail lengths appropriate to the sheathing thickness, ensuring they are driven perpendicular to the roof sheathing to at least three-quarters of its depth. Roofing nails should not be driven below the roofing surface or left protruding.
At the roof edges (eaves, valleys, ridge beams, wind braces, hail guards, and other protruding components), as well as on slopes steeper than 55°, shingle tabs should be bonded using a bituminous adhesive suitable for the purpose, such as NEXLER Adhesive for Bituminous Felt and Shingles, NEXLER Bitumen Roofing Sealant, or NEXLER Arbolex Aqua Stop roofing putty. Agents containing organic solvents are not recommended for bonding.
The adhesive should be applied in a layer approximately 1 mm thick. Do not use shingles from different production batches on the same roof slope. Shingles should be installed using sheets from 5 - 6 packs at a time to ensure a uniform colour appearance.
